There are two easy to find places where you can enter the Blue Ridge Parkway near our neck of the woods. One is located off of Highway 321 in Blowing Rock, and the other area is just off of Old Hwy 421 in Deep Gap. Another harder to find entrance is off of Bamboo Road in Boone (take Deerfield Rd near the hospital to the end, turn right on Bamboo Road and then quickly turn left onto Little Laurel Road which is adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway).

While you are driving, stop and visit historic locales nearby such as Mast General Store (circa 1883) in Valle Crucis, the Green Park Inn & Restaurant in Blowing Rock (circa 1880’s), Moses Cone Mansion Flat Top Manor (circa 1901), and authentic log cabins built by Daniel Boone’s family at the Hickory Ridge Museum in Boone.
