Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is there to do in Boone and the High Country?
The High Country is a four-season vacation destination: hiking, biking, fishing, rafting, white water rafting, skiing, canoeing, and other outdoor activities abound. The area features premier areas of tourism including the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, the Virginia Creeper, New River, and Lake Watauga. Shopping, antiques, galleries, and beautiful scenery can be found in Boone, as well as in nearby Blowing Rock, Valle Crucis, and Banner Elk. Boone is home to Appalachian State University (ASU), fine dining, and is the county seat for Watauga County.
2. What is your cancellation policy?
We strive for a fair cancellation policy – if you cancel more than 14 days before your reservation, we charge you a straight $25.00 bookkeeping charge. If circumstances cause you to cancel within 14 days of your arrival date, we charge you 1/2 of the rate of your total reservation and issue you a gift certificate for that same amount good for 6 months. We reserve the right to charge you the full amount if you cancel on the date of arrival, if there is no time to rebook the room, or if you are a no-show.
3. Do you offer gift certificates?
Absolutely! We will accommodate your desires for any kind of gift certificate including money towards a stay, specific rooms, dates, or packages. The printed certificate will include the recipient’s name, a greeting from the giver, and what it is for (one night or two, or a dollar amount towards a stay). Gift certificates are good for one year from the date of issue. Click Here to Go to Our Gift Certificates Page
4. What credit cards do you accept?
Customer Pricing Notice: A customer service charge of 3.99% is applied to all inn sales. We greatly prefer final payment by cash or check. As an incentive for guests to do so, we now provide an immediate discount of 3.99% to those who pay with cash or check. This applies to purchases of gift certificates. We now accept VISA/MasterCard and Discover credit cards. Our motto is pay by cash or check and save!
5. Do you offer discounts?
Discounts are not available during our high season (1 May thru 30 November). We do offer discounts on multiple night stays, and we do have a business rate for Sunday through Thursday. We offer discounts for active duty military, police, and firemen. We do not offer discounts during our peak season of 15 September thru 1 November of any kind. To see more information on these discounts click here for our specials page.
6. Do you accept pets?
As much as we love pets we do not accept pets out of our consideration of our other guests. However, we are happy to recommend a nearby dog care facility that we use and highly recommend called Happy Paws Dog Den. Their website is www.happypawsdogden.com, and they can be reached at 828-773-1910. They are conveniently located 10 minutes away in Vilas, NC.
7. What is your check-in and check-out time?
Check-in is typically between 3-6 PM. If you are going to be later, we ask that you would be kind and let us know so we can plan our evening around your arrival. Check-out is by 11 AM.
8. Do you allow smoking?
There is no smoking in the inn or any rooms. This includes the use of e-vapor cigarettes. Smoking is allowed in designated areas on the porch and the grounds.
9. Do you accept children or infants?
As much as we love children and grandchildren, the inn can only accept children 12 and above, unless your family is renting out the entire house. We do this out of respect for our other guests.
