The High Country is a great place for an adventure. Whether you are looking for great views, relaxing floats, or heart-pumping adrenaline, you can find it here in Boone, NC and the surrounding areas. The Lovill House Inn has been hosting guests for over 100 years, so we know a little about adventure. Lately, one of the biggest draws to the High Country and our bed and breakfast Boone is the mountain biking scene.
There are several different locations to mountain bike near our bed and breakfast Boone. A popular one right outside of Boone is Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park. Created in 2009, Rocky Knob is a 185 acre park specifically created for bikers in the High Country area. Featuring 8 miles of trails for all skill levels, 4 skills areas, and a pump track, Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park is perfect for anyone looking to test their skills. You can find Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park east of the Boone city limit right off Highway 421.
In the opposite direction, there is the Emerald Outback trail system by Beech Mountain. Also featuring 8 miles of single- and double-track systems, this location is perfect for those who enjoy high-altitude thrills.
From July to early September, Sugar Mountain also opens their lifts to carry bikers and their mountain bikes to the top of their slopes for a summer time ski slope thrill.
For those who just want a nice leisurely ride in nature, Boone’s Greenway Trail offers a range of trail systems accompanied by a paved trail system that follows the river. This trail welcomes bikers, walkers, and runners alike – just in case you would rather balance on legs than wheels.
