2016 is a great time to discover mountain biking in the Boone Area. Easy to expert trails await in one of the most exciting places in the High Country to ride a mountain bike.
Named one of the country’s “Ultimate Ride Hotspots” by Velo Magazine, Boone’s state-of-the-art Rocky Knob Mountain Bike Park, opened in 2011 and new trails a skills practice area have been open since spring 2012.
Mountain bikers have many Boone area options. Travel just 20 miles from the town of Boone and experience the Town of Beech Mountain’s Emerald Outback trail system with 8 miles of new single- and double-track trails open at cool, more-than-mile-high elevations. Sugar Mountain is also a popular destination from July through early September when chairlift rides give cyclists and their mountian bikes a lift to the top for exciting descents from the summit.
Besides Rocky Knob, Emerald Outback, and Sugar Mountain, there is the Boone Greenway. The Greenway’s diverse trail system offers single track that complements a wonderful assortment of paved riverside rides.
