Beech Mountain is a wonderful little spot just a few minutes drive from Boone. It’s known for the elevation, which is 5,506 ft above sea level. The views are simply spectacular atop the town’s location. The area is also home to the Land of Oz, which you can tour during the month of June. The Land of Oz™ opens only during the month of June, as a part of Beech Mountain’s Family Fun Month activities. This year, 2016, all dates are sold out except for June 24th! If you are planning your trip and staying at our Bed and Breakfast Boone NC during this time, this event would be a wonderful one to check out if you love the Wizard of Oz and all things Dorothy related. Their website says you begin your adventure by riding Ski Beech’s chairlift up to The Land of Oz. From there, you can enjoy a magical trip down the Yellow Brick Road led by your tour guide, Dorothy! Tours are available at the following times, Saturday the 24th: 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased online at: http://www.landofoznc.com/#!journeywithdorothy/c1tpe They are extremely limited and in high demand as the park does not open regularly – this is a special event!
Costs are $12.50 – General Admission, plus $10 Roundtrip Lift Ticket (purchased separately at the resort)
