The Lovill House Inn, a magical bed and breakfast in Boone NC, is thrilled to welcome in 2018. We are more excited than ever about a fantastic year, starting this winter. There are so many fun things to do in the High Country in winter. It’s no wonder why so many folks come up to visit us here at the Lovill House Inn Bed and Breakfast. One of the biggest draws to the end of January is Blowing Rock’s Winterfest.
Winterfest is held annually every year, beginning on a Thursday in late January. This year, Winterfest kicks off on January 25th with Shop til you Drop in downtown Blowing Rock. Throughout the weekend there will be beer, wine, and food tastings, as well as fun events for your kids. If you’re feeling artistic, the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum is hosting Cork and Canvas. For a small entry fee, you can sip wine and paint a masterpiece.
Perhaps two of the most entertaining and family friendly events during Blowing Rock’s Winterfest are the ice skating in Memorial Park and the Polar Plunge. Everyone can participate in the ice skating for a ticket at the gate. The Polar Plunge, held at Chetola Resort’s gigantic lake, is quite the winter spectacle. Watch as daring individuals dive into the freezing cold lake for charity. It is highly recommended that spectators make reservations.
